Relationships

  • It is relationships,
    • Not material things.
  • Things can be lost.
    • Things can be stolen.
    • Things can be destroyed.
  • Material things are temporary.
    • Relationships are life itself.
  • They laugh with you.
    • They cry with you.
    • They celebrate with you.
  • They pray when you can not.
    • They cry when all your tears have been shed.
    • They hold you up when you cannot stand.
  • It is relationships that make
    • Life enjoyable.
    • And some say,  “Worth living.”

  • Relationships make the world go around.  It is relationships that carry us through grief and suffering.  It is so much easier to overcome challenges and tribulations when a friend or family provides the needed listening post, advice, and/or council.    I was reflecting on the friends that had died and their contributions to my life.   They were and are missed.  I am happy their suffering has ended and they are in a much better place.

Words: Spoken or Written

  • Written words upon paper or stone,
    • Without actions, are like words written
    • Upon the stream that flows nearby.
  • The words vanish
    • As they are formed
    • by a finger or stick upon the stream.
  • Spoken words to family, friends or lovers,
    • Without actions, are  words  frozen
    • Into  glacier ice.
  • The words go unheard
    • As the words are formed into ice
    • Then melted into the stream flowing nearby.
  • With action, words will live
    • For eternity upon the lips
    • Of  witnesses.
  • They are “true” words chiseled by actions
    • Witnessed by others, not self.

  • I was musing on the impermanence of the spoken or written word.  Without actions, promises delivered or commitments completed,  words  are empty of meaning.  They are a waste of time for those listening or reading.  Further, the words detract from the validity of all words.
  • Words with actions are remembered and cherished by generations that have not heard or seen the original words.  The “true” words are passed on to become the legend in civilizations traditions.

Creator of All Things

  • Oh, Creator of all things,
    • I acknowledge you.
    • All created by you.
  • I honor all.
    • From the unseen
    • To the visible.
  • I honor all
    • From the smallest
    • To the largest.
  • Oh, Creator of all things,
    • I thank You
    • For your gifts.
